A major pipeline company is threatening to cutoff natural gas to five power plants in Texas, a move that could have a major impact on the state power grid.

Several subsidiaries of electricity generation company Vistra Corp., including Dallas-based Luminant Energy, filed a request with the Texas Railroad Commission on January 19 to stop the shutdown. In the complaint the companies said the “threat to terminate service in the middle of winter is illegal and grossly irresponsible and should be prohibited”.

The pipeline company Energy Transfer LP — which is run by Dallas billionaire Kelcy Warren — says Luminant needs to pay $21 million in penalties for oversupplying natural gas during the deadly winter freeze that knocked off gas supplies, contributing to power outages that left many Texans in the dark for days when the state was experiencing unusually frigid temperatures.Luminant says the power plants that would be shut down serve some 400,000 Texas homes, businesses, hospitals, and schools.

This was by FAR the worst idea ever conceived for 2 major reasons. 1. 246 people died thanks to having no power. 2. One of them was an 11 year old boy. People up North can make it work & so xan we if we weren't so F***ing greedy & stubborn.

The gas company backed off their threat. This occurring almost a year since Texas, the entire damn state, went dark/froze Unconscionable. Unacceptable.

You’d think a competent Governor would have headed off this situation before it became a possible crisis. AbbottFailedTexas TexasPowerGrid VoteHimOut BetoForTexas

They raised nat gas prices 100x above normal, no extra cost to them, pure profit. They should be jailed and broken up, but they donated heavily to Greg Abbott.

Would you be ok with the gas station raising prices to three hundred dollars a gallon during a hurricane or wildfire evacuation? That's what the natural gas companies did here. Raised nat gas prices 100x above normal, no extra cost to them, pure profit.

Who would sell something to someone that owes them millions of dollars from last year!? The headlines should be power company in Texas not paying their bills. It’s not the pipeline you should be upset with.

Playing games with peoples lives. Go figure.

The person attempting to hold Texas hostage for millions of dollars is a major Greg Abbott donor.

Fake

To bad they shut down the coal fired power plants. Diversity is reliability.
