NEW YORK—A smiling group of tourists, some giving the thumbs-up sign or making "bunny ears" behind one another's heads, posed to have their pictures taken Tuesday outside the Dakota apartments, on the very spot where John Lennon's blood splashed against the building and pooled on the sidewalk as he died.
"Smile!" said the photographer to the happily married couple and their three children as he stood where Mark David Chapman gunned down Lennon on Dec. 8, 1980, causing a shrieking Yoko Ono to cradle her husband's bullet-riddled body. "There! Perfect.

Every time I’m at the 9/11 memorial at the WTC, it drives me nuts with people taking selfies and smiling giving the “v”. Have you no idea or respect?
How insensitive can people be? What has changed us? Is it just that the 'under 50' group have lost all emotions for grief? If that is true though, who taught it to them?
Actually when 9/11 happened, I was living along the Hudson River in NJ. The smoke from the twin towers was drifting up the Hudson. There were these Japanese women taking pictures with the smoke pluming over the river. They were laughing. I tore into them. My Pearl Harbor I said.

Sadly, that article is true. I had some friends who wanted to go to the Dakota and take pictures of themselves for that reason. I was appalled.

I know this is the onion, but John Lennon died 40 years ago, and their reaction would be as mine growing up in the 60s to someone famous dying in the 1920s: who is he? The Dakota Building is a famous landmark, not just for John Lennon.
Who uses those compact digital cameras to take selfies these days?
Yikes
Devout Christians: 'say 'imagine there's no heaven' on three!'
They be even happier if chapman was in the selfie.
