Photo of booth giving free masks for 'minorities only' at Michigan college sparks outrage
The student said on Twitter the sign was part of an experiment conducted for a class to explore how COVID-19 has impacted different communities.
The student has said onTwitterthat the experiment was intended as a form of media activism and that"the reactions are the point of the project."I went on to explain how this is literally how the real world works. The point of this experiment was to get the negative reaction out of my white counterparts and the positive reaction from minorities. Mission accomplished for sure. (Pt. 5)

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC), several studies have shown minority groups are at greater risk of severe COVID-19 infection than white individuals.
A presentation of CDC data from Emory University broke down the disparities between virus-related deaths across different communities, with Black individuals, Native Americans and Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders having higher COVID-19 death rates per 100,000 people than white Americans. headtopics.com
