The Suns signed him to a two-way deal Wednesday after his second 10-day expired Tuesday and waived Duane Washington Jr., who was on a two-day deal.
"There are decisions that you have to make for what you think is good for the team," Suns coach Monty Williams said."At the same time, you understand that careers are affected when you make those decisions. It was one of those days you don't necessarily care for in these positions.""Just part of the business that we're in," Williams said.Players can be on two-way deals up their third NBA season.
Suns All-Star Devin Booker walked up to Lee in the locker room and congratulated him on being back with the team. Lee, who grew up in Phoenix and graduated from Corona del Sol in Tempe, scored 15 points in a win over Brooklyn. During his time in Phoenix, Lee earned more playing time than Washington Jr. in making his way into the rotation.
The next month, Lee scored 21 points in a Jan. 8 home loss to Cleveland and went for 25 in a road win Jan. 10 against defending NBA champion Golden State."He's been good for us," Williams said."He understands where he is. He's trying to find a home in the NBA and he's done a good job for us. He's a diligent worker. He's always ready. His minutes haven't been consistent, but when he's out there, he's been a benefit to the team.
