Steven Klein directed Philipp Plein’s new collection movie, titled “Night Games” and starring Megan Fox. Written by Klein associate Joseph Lally, the film is split up into a series of episodes, all of which are as sumptuously visualized as you would expect from Klein’s obsessive lens. There are some shocking moments—Fox’s riposte to a member of staff at Plein’s new Bel Air guesthouse who moves her chess piece is surely not in the rules—plus cameos fromand Plein and his girlfriend Lucia Bartoli.
Plein premiered his film tonight in Milan’s buzzing Porta Romana district in a huge building which is currently a huge mess. This is because it is being renovated. The plan is to turn it into the brand’s showroom, but for this evening, it was covered with graffiti and decked out with rooms dedicated to patisserie, a screening area, a bar and dance floor, showcasing the prototypes of his new watches made with Timex, and showcasing his new line of sunglasses and opticals.
Klein and Plein clearly have an accord, and both apparently had a blast making this film, which is to be followed by a campaign that also stars Fox . Even with a communications moment as epic as this one, however, the evening felt a little muted: Plein reported that the police had turned up earlier, at first determined to shut him down, but they then discovered nothing much was happening, and went upon their way.
