Democratic presidential candidate former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg embraces Hannah Brown at the Nevada Black Legislative Caucus Black History Awards brunch Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, in Las Vegas. The once little-known former mayor of a midsize Midwestern city vaulted over a former vice president and several U.S. senators in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire presidential primary.
The former South Bend, Indiana, mayor, who has registered negligible support among black voters nationally, has been to South Carolina 10 times and has been airing ads on black radio stations in South Carolina since last fall, as well as ads in black newspapers. Reed said college students are intrigued by Buttigieg’s Douglass Plan, aimed at ending systemic racism, but especially are drawn to his call for a culture of belonging.
“I’m against homosexuality. I love everybody, but I’m against that lifestyle,” Houston said as she waited to cast her vote for Biden at an early caucus site. And he recently struggled when pressed during the ABC debate in New Hampshire about the disproportionate arrests of black people for marijuana possession.
In New Hampshire, about 1 in 10 voters were nonwhite. Buttigieg earned support from 14% of such voters, roughly comparable to support for other top contenders, except Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, backed by roughly 4 in 10 nonwhite voters.
Gross. Just as fake as Trump's inauguration claims.
Pete Buttigieg is a younger, better dressed version of Kevin Arnold’s teacher from ‘The Wonder Years.’ This guy has no shot. I feel sorry for anyone donating money to his campaign.
Lost me on his legal drugs
The moment this guy asked a worker on the picket line if they had a bridging program for their wage gaps, he exposed himself as ignorant to the struggles of the working class.
Nope
awkward lol
No
_Politics Nice visual props Mayor Pete! Where have they been in your ads/videos prior to your needing their votes?
petebuttigieg chosenone of the oligarchy. GoodLieutenant for POTUS ? However, ThePlanetStrikesBack on covid19 in China & ebola in DRC & Nipah in India & MEARS in Arabia & watershortages in CapeTown & UnitedStates Flint lead disaster not solved:Election promises
No he won't. Sanders has the edge.
No, he can’t
Q: He's looking like Damn, is this the shit i have to deal with. A: Nope. not over here, not my vote
Hope he fails.
Hummmmm, one never knows what one might find!!!! FOX40 realDonaldTrump
Question for minority voters, no matter how indifferent/tone deaf you think Mayor Pete is to race, do you honestly believe that Trump is the better choice in that regard?
They are much less immune to a conman, so hopefully not
'Non- poc' (y'all hate that term ... like we dislike the term 'minority') candidates should stop assuming Black/Hispanic voters are sitting on the sidelines waiting for the one who speaks the right words to unlock our votes. We are actively engaged in the election process.
Candidates for president should ALREADY have a substantive record of participation and support among Black and Hispanic Americans that speaks for itself. Candidates have to pander for votes I agree. But solicit my support with a record that my/our votes matters.
Won't happen, always look actions over long time. Not words on a campaign to win votes
Does not have this minority vote from Cali.
No thanks goodbye
'Robust'
Trump 2020!
Nope.
I don't trust WallStreetPete - he'll be 'Gentrifyer in-chief'
The mob that he needs to ‘build support with’ (kiss their ass) doesn’t like him. The name alone, bootygeige, also precludes him from election. No way is this country electing someone with such a ridiculous name. 😆 Shallow but true.
He’s already doing poorly among the LGBT
Ooooo idk
no 🐀
💩🥑
PeteButtigieg- not the one for 2020! Robotic in his manner& rhetoric. Too local & zero credentials for global or national leadership. thumbs down!
Watching the liberal media trying to prop up candidates is rather funny.
As a Latina, it’s a solid no.
The none man hug . . . My daughter's friends hug each other like thus . . .
My question Will the Black/ Latino Voters give an openly Gay canidate it's vote if he runs against Mr.Donald J.Trump, in November...... If so welcome to the 'The times they are a Changing......The Roaring 20's.
Jeffw841 The answer is Yes, of course he can. And has. And will continue to gain support.
Pete is at -0% of the black vote tell me again how is going to get the nomination again
The real question is, 'Why are blacks slow to embrace him?' I think it's because blacks are conservative at heart and don't support homosexuality.
Nope.
If only he had more experience other than being a small town Mayor.
You BernieBots are funny. Comrade Bernie is unelectable, even with the whole Bizarro Trump populist schtick. Keep telling everyone how you will no longer be governed by rich, old white dudes though 🤜🤛
Doubt it. I am very progressive. He is about as vanilla white as possible. He doesn't have a lot of depth. I get his appeal but long term it won't be enough.
Can the US elect a President (male) that introduces his spouse to world leaders as his husband (male)
This 'viability' trope is so tired. NO ONE is electable until they ARE ACTUALLY ELECTED. This is self-fulfilling prophecy nonsense at its worst. How 'bout we let the voters decide AT THE VOTING BOOTH. Then we'll know who is and who 'ain't 'viable.'

MeanLin1 Buttguy...
He will not get Christian votes.
PETE IS JUST A MEDIA DARLING
Simply put....nope!
Buttigieg needs to EARN that Black and Latino support, not faking this support only because he's running for president. He needs to build it with time. Sanders didn't have that Black and Hispanic support in 2016. He earned it by joining protests, supporting unions, etc.
In two weeks, we will find out that the answer is yes. People of color support his agenda. Pete is overcoming the biggest obstacle — lack of name recognition — to polling well among voters of color.
The answer to the question surely is: YES, he can win among minority voters.
pete is a No.
From the group that loves to yell RACISM...can’t support a gay man. SMH
After incarcerating so many a shift in strategy
How is he gonna win their support By throwing them all in prison?
Easy answer: Nope!
No. He can not.
Uh, no, he can’t.
No
McDonald's Manager Pete needs to come back in 10 to 20 years. That would be a NO! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿
With voter outreach like this to people of color...you tell me..
There is a deep divide in the Dem. party. The party is yearning for a Bill Clinton clone to give moderates a solid option. Unfortunately there is no one in this group that fits the bill.
no
Failed
But the deep state and corrupt Dem Party Establishment will help Sneaky Pete B!
I can't help but think he's another Dukakis in waiting. Even though he's ex-military, he should not drive a tank on camera. Dems would be stupid to nominate him.
So it’s ok when you guys ask, but when Rush asks it’s big scandal. Ok.
When stop-and-frisk Bloomberg polls ahead or Bittigieg in minority communities, the roll of homophobia needs to be examined.
Milquetoast Mayor isn’t getting my vote unless I get that secret password to the wine dungeon or whatever it is.
Well he doesn’t blast others constantly and he does not bring drama. So he is about helping people. He is about solutions. So, he is not going anywhere. But he is doing this right. He brings respect, intelligence, humility and strength to politics
Does being a visible minority give people a free pass on anti-gay bigotry?
no
this photo reminds me Dave Chappelle stand up comedy. Bill Clinton vs George Bush.
LOLZ... no way
Lol! Hell No
no
Not really winning over minorities by faking having their support, three separate times now
🙅🏾♀️
he has 0% black support
Don’t count him out...🤫
LoL. I see y'all 😂
no
And can 'minority' communities address their own homophobia?
ill make it easy for you, the answer is no
Ugh
no
