The Pentagon is poised to reverse its opposition to a proposal that would further crack down on U.S. exports to blacklisted Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei

Cabinet-level officials, including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are expected to meet on Feb. 28 to discuss the rule and how to proceed with other export-control issues related to China.

The Defense Department's undersecretary for policy, John Rood, has overruled those concerns, the people said.U.S. semiconductor companies found other ways around the blacklisting, including supplying Huawei through subsidiaries or partners in foreign countries. “While many companies believe their U.S. content is far below 25 percent, 10 percent is a different animal,” said a person close to the issue.

Huawei was placed on Commerce’s entity list last year prohibiting U.S. companies from supplying the Chinese telecom manufacturer with semiconductors and other components. Some companies have been granted temporary exemptions to continue a limited amount of business.

US accuses Huawei of spying through 'backdoors' built for law enforcement - Business InsiderThe US says Huawei has been spying through 'backdoors' designed for law enforcement — which is what the US has been pressuring tech companies to do for years lv_vl sure... good comeback after being busted with fake encryption company The evidence showed otherwise. The US strongarmed all the major American tech companies into installing backdoors in their products years ago, and then proceeded to spy on its own citizens and its allies (as well as its enemies). What's happened to Warren, Biden? Dismal showings and questions about the future.Biden's and Sen. Warren's poor finishes in New Hampshire raise daunting questions about the future of their campaigns after both former front-runners were denied podium positions by a late-surging Amy Klobuchar. Media, for once stop interfering in our election. Can you hold the projections until after states other than two small, rural, white states vote? Unfollowing. Biden was Obama’s VP that’s about all he’s got and his age is showing. Warren... well honestly? Too much running around waving her arms. Doesn’t show much substance. Klobuchar’s military background peeks through, gives confidence, won’t melt down in crisis. imo I sincerely hope America proves me wrong, but I believe DNC is trying too hard to beat Trump and not do the best they can for the citizens of this nation.
