It’s the only language they understand. Lives don’t matter to them. Hate runs too deep within their veins.
why do I have the feeling that you're leaving something out here?
Praying for their strength man... so sad
They murdered Elijah.
What crime was he committing?
He didn’t just die he was murdered
You report on this lawsuit but completely ignore this.
Sifill_LDF Hell yeah👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good. Justice I hope. Shit is fucked.
That boy was an angel walking amongst the dammed. He played violin to shelter animals ffs. Those cops deserve the gurney and that family deserves to get breaded up pronto
AngelaKrebs444 ER drs R 2quick 2believe police lies&falsely diagnosing patients who've been abused by police as mentally ill&illegally sedating them/injectng them w psychotropic drugs involuntarily, endangering their lives via malpractice compounding PoliceMisconduct AMA EmergencyMedicine
Ketamine should have never been used. Known to suppress breathing. Who in the state or local jurisdiction authorized its use - that is the real crime!
Good.
The autopsy stated that he had heart problems and that he could have died anyway even without the police brutality and sedation. As such, there is not enough to prove the cops murdered him. That is why the DA refuses to file murder charges against st the cops.
This story sounds a little strange. They twice used choke holds and then the person still had to be sedated? There must be more to this story. Let’s hear it
This poor boy, mother and family. I am sorry that this happened to you and is still going on. I hope with everything they have been through they can find closure. From a mother to a mother, I hope she can feel her baby when she whispers to him. He’s always there w her.
Sifill_LDF This was flat out murder. The kid had done nothing wrong. Those cops should be in jail.
When are we getting rid of qualified immunity? It's utter BS.
Why are police injecting drugs into people?
American4Love I hope they win millions of $ and destroy the police department!
hope it's for at least 50 million dollars.
Why are the news so scared to call it what it is? Murder. He was murdered by cops and they bragged about it in text messages.
It’s 2020. We not doing passive voice when cops murder people anymore.
Of course they do.
'Sedated him' — no. 'Improperly injected him' WordsAreYourTrade
He was a violent criminal, not a 'violinist'
Horrible result!! However, do you honestly believe that they meant that
Noted: npr are backing away from their usual racial incitement here by not mentioning skin colour and instead focusing on injustices. Finally 👍
Good!
Best of luck to them.
Now that we have our beloved cellphones, America can abolish police patrols. We can change the law to limit cops’ power of arrest to 9|11 phone call complaints. Even after we do so, police will still be violent, inhumane, and often lethal. There was a 9|11 call in this case
I just still really believe this should be phrased as 'Elijah McClain... who was *murdered* by Colorado police who put him in two chokeholds and sedated him with *a lethal amount of* ketamine.' These words matter.
This is terrible! How can police be allowed to use chokeholds to secure victims!? Absolutely obscene. Maybe defunding the police isn't the best of ideas, but police training has to be met be reforms!!!
It’s about JUSTICE.
I'd like to see the footage as well as the other side before I make an opinion. By hey I guess I'm an asshole for wanting to know the whole story
I want to be sedated with ketamine
He was murdered by police. He didn’t just passively die. They harassed him while he was walking home and then killed him.
good sue the fuck out of them
Millions of dollars will never be able to make up for their loss, but I hope they win big. Heinous incident.
Good
First time hearing their story. Condolences.
