Will have to read the paper, but this comes across as simplistic determinism theory. It will happen no matter what, just slightly different delivery mechanism.
Going back in time is like trying to unscramble the eggs which have already been baked into an omelette which has already been eaten and burned off partly as calories and partly pooped out, of which has gone into the compost and fertilized flowers.
