I hate when they ask for a tip before completed service. It's usually when I get the worst service. Also, I'm tired of being asked to tip people at a counter just taking an order. I don't even know who I'm tipping or what for. Tip shares freqiently end up in owners' pockets.
It's like an implied threat. Tip me first, or else your service might suck.

that's because we know that we're better people than Members of Congress, and even though they're cowards and won't pass paid sick leave, we realize people need that, so we tip.
