BOGOTÁ, Colombia (AP) — Colombia and Panamá no protegen a cientos de miles de migrantes que cruzan la selva del Darién camino de Estados Unidos, y que se han vuelto cada vez más vulnerables a los robos y la violencia sexual, según un reporte publicado el miércoles por Human Rights Watch.

El lado colombiano del Darién está controlado por el Clan del Golfo, un cártel del narcotráfico que cobra impuestos a los guías locales y gana hasta 125 dólares por cada migrante que cruza a Panamá, según estimaciones proporcionadas a HRW por militares colombianos y citadas en el informe previo del grupo sobre el Darién, publicado en noviembre.
