Twenty-eight years ago, almost to the day, I had the good fortune to befriend Pakistan's then-chief diplomatAs a young reporter for The Nation, a respected Pakistani English language daily, I had been freshly assigned coverage of the diplomatic affairs "beat", for no better reason than that I am white-skinned and speak English with a London accent - and so was more likely to be socially accepted by the diplomats .
Zaki Sahib, who remained my friend until he passed away in November 2017, imparted my first impromptu lesson at a diplomatic shindig in 1992. "Pakistan's foreign policy … " he dictated, as I eagerly scribbled notes next to the drinks table, " … is in a minefield, without a map.
He also educated me in the fine art of diplomacy with India.
Sadly, my sense of optimism has been exhausted by the manner in which Pakistan's foreign policy has become completely subservient to the domestic political objectives of its institutions in recent years.
tomthehack this is that is 5th time have re posted this article... i have no clue why they are posting it again and again from last 3-4 days
tomthehack Looks like the article is written by a Novel writer.
tomthehack Let's credit Nawaz Sharif and his government for having a whole tenure WITHOUT a foreign minister. 👏🏻
tomthehack Kindly write something about turkey foreign policy so your ass can be kicked out
tomthehack Pakistan consider Turkey its ally and friend. ImranKhanPTI has promoted DilirisErtugrul to promoted Turkey. Turkey you have a few allies and Pakistan is one of them. don’t jeopardize relationships between Turkey and Pakistan by publishing these kind of articles.
tomthehack Maybe should focus more on Turkey than Pakistan. Turkey is at blink of war with Greece. EU is planning to inforce sanctions on Turkey. Turkey has diplomatic fallout with Middle East and North Africa. I would say that’s a failed foreign policy.
tomthehack Hope TRT didn't pay you for this worthless article. If TRT did then it's unfair on Turkish tax payers. What a waste of the 2 minutes of my life.
tomthehack Lately I have been noticing has publishing many anti Pakistan and anti ImranKhanPTI articles claiming Pakistan is islolated. The truth is after couple of decades Pakistan have become out of isolation. India is isolated for the first time ever.
tomthehack Not agreed to this misconception
