Nanci Jane Giuffre, 70, of Arnold, was charged with two counts each of felony identity theft and access device fraud along with felony counts of forgery and theft.According to a criminal complaint, a woman told police May 25 that Giuffre obtained her banking information to make $4,555 worth of transactions on the Lucky Land gambling website, which features online slot machines.The lawsuit claims Sherry Head pulled up to the drive-thru and ordered a caramel macchiato in December 2020.The woman informed police her account was used to unlock a line of credit at OneMain Financial and borrow $2,029.“I wanted to do something for Huntington Park that they didn’t have,” she says.The woman told police she was unsure why she was receiving bills from OneMain and paid about $664 to avoid penalties.The lawsuit alleges that Head now suffers throat and other issues, and may need surgery to repair damage caused by the chemicals intended to clean the restaurant’s coffee makers.She told investigators that the money she paid out to keep the line-of-credit account current cut into her budget for food, rent and other expenses.(Eddie Gaspar/The Texas Tribune, Eddie Gaspar/The Texas Tribune) , our daily newsletter that keeps readers up to speed on the most essential Texas news.
