The Pennsylvania Senate on Wednesday confirmed two more of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s cabinet nominees - Reggie McNeil as Secretary of the Department of General Services and Cindy Adams Dunn as Secretary of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

McNeil was confirmed with a unanimous vote; Dunn was confirmed 49-to-1, with Sen. Scott Hutchinson, R-Venango County, in objection.

Dunn also served as DCNR secretary for Gov. Tom Wolf, and held positions under previous governors as well. As she had at theearlier this year, Dunn stressed the importance of state parks as amenities that will help retain Pennsylvania’s workforce and resident base, saying “we need to be that place where people want to stay.”

Hutchinson cited instances in which he said a fishing bait concessionaire was pushed out of Oil City State Park, and a ski trail groomer left after a 19-month contract renewal process; he also criticized the DCNR’s purchasing of timber land.
