This editorial is part of the Dallas Morning News editorial board’s slate of recommendations for the 2022 primary.Democratic state Rep. Michelle Beckley was one of the casualties of last year’s state redistricting process that saw House District 65 redrawn with her outside of its boundaries. The district is now primed to flip to a Republican candidate in the fall. Republican primary voters should select small business owner Kronda Thimesch as their candidate.
Thimesch, 54, has an impressive record of public service stretching back decades. She served as a trustee for Lewisville ISD for five years. She has served on the Denton County Child Protective Services board. She volunteers with Metrocrest Services, Lewisville ISD Education Foundation, Communities in Schools and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County. She’s a member of several other civic clubs, chambers of commerce and service organizations.
Thimesch favors traditional conservative policies on immigration, abortion and taxes. As a business owner, she’s outspoken about the need to keep taxes and regulation low. She is well informed about the dangers of human trafficking, telling us the state should invest in measures that protect foster kids and young adults who are aging out of the foster system from traffickers.

Republicans have only held power for the last two decades because they’ve gotten away with gerrymandering. It’s time to have elected leaders that are representative of Ohioans, rather than the extremists that get in office only because they are in safe districts. Shame How dare they oppose the democrats. That’s not allowed. When their slave got taken away they got super mad. Ohio Republicans never miss an opportunity to embrace corruption.
