Orange Assistant Fire Chief Larry Genova, far left, and Fire Chief Bob Wilson, far right, join other members of the village’s fire department who were either promoted to the rank of lieutenant or appointed to part-time positions at the Village Council meeting Wednesday . From left, they are Tom Blessing, Jason Pitre, William Mandich, Shaun Parsons and Jessica Greer.
The police investigator will receive a salary that is established by the mayor within a range that is set by council, the ordinance states. Orange Fire Chief Bob Wilson noted Mandich, who has served as a fire inspector and fire instructor, was named the village’s Firefighter of the Year in 2020. That year, he saved the life of a 3-year-old boy who was in cardiac arrest in a swimming pool.
Parsons also works full time at the Solon Fire Department, where he has served for 10 years and has been a lieutenant since April 2022. He’s a member of the Eastside Technical Rescue Team and is actively involved in specialized technical rescue. All of the newly appointed and promoted firefighters introduced family members and friends who attended the meeting before being sworn in.
