Some church watchers had expected that Benedict's death might be a liberating moment for Pope Francis. But there has been only intrigue and acrimony.

“The first tasks of the new pope will be to restore normality, restore doctrinal clarity in faith and morals, restore a proper respect for the law,” said the memo, which was signed with the pseudonym “Demos.”But then there was a final twist. After the purported author

As if that weren’t enough drama, the Spectator, a conservative London-based magazine, posthumously published one more article written by Pell — this one signed — in which he skewered an ongoing multiyear church project, central to Francis’s vision for the church, that involves listening to grass-roots Catholics and accounting for the “richness” of different church perspectives.“A toxic nightmare,” Pell called this process, which will culminate with a major assembly in October.

“Based on what we’ve seen in the first half of January, my impression is that this resistance to Pope Francis is only going to escalate,” said Mike Lewis, a founder of

I know pedo Pell was Australian, but this seems to be mostly an American thing, fueled by far-right politics. In actual catholic countries people seem to have a lot of respect for the pope.

Pope Francis has made a huge impact and is loved by billions across the world, but he keeps being opposed by radical fundamentalists within the Church who don’t even know what love is all about.

This morning I went to church. While praying for unity among Christians, the guiding prayers reminded us of colonialism, white supremacy & BLM, which are AMERICAN phenomena, NOT Italian. The only time we tried to colonize, we got our $$es kicked so bad by the Ethiopians ...

Despite the Catholic Church's blatant misogyny & ongoing colonialism, Pope Francis has a clear moral compass & genuinely cares about the poor--much more like John Paul than like Benedict (Maledict). Of course the institutionalists who installed Benedict would be threatened.

Days of Catholic cult are numbered. Very painful to imagine the fate of millions of souls perishing in hell due to Catholicism. Catholic was a well thought out plan meant to overshadow faith & destroy the worship of GOD. It's a cancer in the body of the Church(Christianity)

Pell has no moral authority on ANYTHING. He moved priests to new diocese after knowing they had sexually abused children & sought to deny the victims compensation and justice. He was a monster.

Who cares? This is real, the rest is fake. Science embraces facts, debates opinions. Religion embraces opinions and debates facts.

My biggest problem with him is his lack of neutrality. If he is a true anti-war pacifist, then he should call out both sides for engaging in hostilities. All I ever see are pleas for sympathy for the Ukrainians, but never for the Russians in the Donbass. He's a biased politician.

It’s interesting that Pope Francis, who has made a huge impact and is loved by billions across the globe, runs into opposition from fundamentalists within the Church who seem to be devoid of exactly the kind of love Jesus taught.

This is Joe Biden's Grandaughter Navy he refuses 2 acknowledge she exist. He has never met her or sent a Birthday or Christmas Gift and refused to provide protection when she was threatened. This is our President who claims he believes in diversity and acceptance except his own.

Police demolish trader stalls in Congo capital ahead of Pope visitCongolese authorities are demolishing makeshift stalls crowding downtown streets in the capital Kinshasa ahead of Pope Francis' four-day visit which starts Jan. 31. But traders say the sanitary police involved in the facelift are going too far The Pope wouldn’t want that - he’s a liberation theologian. They should be doing everything they can to raise the poor people who rely on those stalls up, not penalise them, if they want to impress the Pope and his followers. why does it matters so much to destroy the poor masses economic means because a govt is preparing to receive the Pope? If Jesus were to be here in 4 days, would it matters that the streets are lined with gold while His children have been sold to evil and wickedness?
