Opinion | Michael Conway: President Trump's Twitter attacks on Judge Amy Berman Jackson show his disrespect for the rule of law. - NBCNewsTHINK

, who, at the time, was presiding over the criminal trial of Daniel Ellsberg for leaking the Pentagon Papers to The New York Times and The Washington Post.

Nixon had much to fear from potential disclosures in that trial because members of the so-called plumbers unit in the White House, under the direction of Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy , had burglarized the office of Ellsberg's former psychiatrist, Dr. Lewis Fielding, looking for dirt on Ellsberg, whose telephone had also been tapped without authorization by the FBI.

But even those actions were not enough to satisfy Nixon. According to the House Judiciary Committee's final report in the Nixon impeachment inquiry:"The president later directed John Ehrlichman to contact Judge Matthew Byrne, the presiding judge in the Ellsberg trial. On April 5 and 7, 1973 Ehrlichman met with Judge Byrne and informed him that the president was considering appointing Judge Byrne to the directorship of the FBI.

Similarly, both Trump and Nixon tried to interfere with their own Justice Departments' investigations of close advisers. In April 1973, Nixon received private briefings from Attorney General Richard Kleindeinst and the assistant attorney general in the Criminal Division, Henry Petersen, about the Watergate investigation of Nixon's aides. Nixon pledged to Petersen that he would not share the grand jury information with anyone. Nixon broke that promise immediately, passing along confidential information to the very aides under investigation.

THINK Opinion: NBC needs to stick with the facts.

THINK No he's just pointing out incompetence. As in any profession there are good and bad.

THINK Especially the politically biased ones. If it wasn't a guy that worked for Trump the case would have been dismissed because of the shenanigans allowed during his trial. Stone would already be serving time if it weren't for their biases.

THINK All criminals disrespect rule of law

THINK No, it shows how there are two different set of rules

THINK Trump has more respect for the 'Rule of Law' Than most of these corrupt Lawyers and Judges! He's aware that they are issuing outrageous sentences that don't fit the crime! He's aware of the Bias going on in the courtrooms!

THINK America’s media have lost all credibility because they have chosen to become far left propaganda machines sickening

THINK Amy Berman has politicised the rule of law against Roger Stone by stacking the jury with known Dems and Trump haters, all but insuring a guilty verdict. Now even after exposing blatant bias by the forejuror, Berman denies a new trial. This was a KANGAROO trial.

THINK Trump is an outlaw.

THINK Tell me something I don’t know. He doesn’t even believe the people he put in positions.

THINK Are you kidding me!! HIS ENTIRE FREAKING LIFE is evidence of his 'disrespect for the Rule of Law'!!

THINK

THINK Blah blah blah

THINK Failure to declare a mistrial shows lack of respect for the rule of law.

THINK Michael Conway...Good one!

THINK

THINK Why in the hell do you all keep giving this fraud and failure free press when he hates you all so much

THINK Remove Trump. Vote for Burnie Sanders

THINK Duh

THINK Judge showed her disrespect for the law by trying to allow wife of Mueller investigator on the jury against the defences repeated requests. Judge also should have called a mistrial add son as it became evident lead juror lied about stone and trump hating, and even tweeted such

sueaross THINK Remove Trump

THINK WHO taught Donnie to show total disrespect to workplace sex crimes and the rule of law? Who allowed this evil on The Celebrity Apprentice? How many millions before TV OWNERS admit they debased female contractors as sex slaves - FOR BIG MONEY? TimesUP

THINK The fact that you or anyone else can criticize the President shows that all people can be subject to criticism. Judges are not above reproach.

THINK What it shows is the judicial activism that has pervaded the courts.

THINK Your headline should Read... Judge Amy Bergman should recuse herself due to her openly bias hatred toward realDonaldTrump Yet.. Why would you since NBC is part of the DeepStateCorruption

THINK Yes, what else is new. She’s not intimidated!

THINK Pretty sure he’s showed us that for the last three years and we’re exhausted.

THINK

THINK Most American's already know he has NO respect for the rule of law. Those that want rule of law will have their say at the polls in 257 days.

THINK Don the Con.

THINK The Judge, Amy Berman Jackson, shows her disrespect for the rule of law. Period.

THINK Thank you for Fake News!

THINK lol like anything he does ever respects the rule of law
