Opinion | The worst GOP hypocrisy on display at the House hearing on Jan. 6

Ashley Pratte Oates, communications strategist and board member, Republican Women for ProgressParticipants in the mob used the very instruments with which they proclaim to support the police in actions of violence against them. Some waved Blue Lives Matter flags.

The centerpiece of the hearing opening a congressional investigation into the Capitol insurrection waswho were protecting lawmakers, staff members and visitors at the Capitol complex on Jan. 6 when an angry mob threatened their lives. The officers painted a bleak and disturbing picture of not only the hate and violence they faced that day, but also of how Republicans actually view law enforcement. Members of the GOP are willing to trample — quite literally, in some cases — on one of the last remaining pillars of the party they purport to support rather than acknowledge the truth that Donald Trump lost the election fair and square.

THINK And the left encouraged riots and destruction last summer, who also bailed out criminals....those who still want to dismantle law and order, elevating criminals to hero status....have NO room to pass judgement on anyone.

THINK The real Hypocrisy is not investigating BLM and Antifa for the riots and looting and attacking federal buildings and police stations

THINK The message from the McCarthy Republicans who deny or whitewash the January 6th Insurrection: Blue Lives Matter—except when they are defending the US Capitol from domestic terrorists.
