For years Warren Buffett has argued that wealthy Americans are undertaxed and should have to pay more. So celebrated has the Berkshire Hathaway chairman become for his Tax Me message that Joe Biden invoked the “Buffett Rule” in his run for the presidency. Here is how his campaign website put it:
“Joe Biden believes in rewarding work, not just wealth—and investing in hard-working Americans’ health, not protecting the most privileged Americans’ wealth. Warren Buffett said it best when he stated that he should not pay a lower tax rate than his secretary.”
