When Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael and William Bryan Jr. were found guilty of murdering Ahmaud Arbery on Wednesday, I felt like I could finally exhale. Nsenga BurtonLike many Black people in this country, I had been waiting for the verdict with bated breath. That is part of the Black experience in America -- holding one's breath, hoping for justice and yet not expecting it. To say there was a collective sigh of relief when those guilty verdicts were announced Wednesday is an understatement. Many wept, shouted, hugged one another and breathed. We hold our breath not just when the issue is a violent crime.
We all knew those three were guilty. Smart ppl knew justice would be handed down in Arbery's name. Guess you're not part of the smart ppl who knew justice would be served since you were 'holding' your 'breath.'
Black people put so much emotion and energy into the outcome of this trial. Heck, white people wouldn't give 2 minutes of their time if it happened to someone they didn't know.
What about the black terrorist who targeted women and children in WaukeshaMassacre WaukeshaChristmasParade
