From WSJopinion: The impasse over Covid-19 legislation is a policy failure with constitutional implications, writes BillGalston

The impasse over Covid-19 legislation is a policy failure with constitutional implications.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Sunday that most issues between congressional Democrats and the Trump administration had been resolved, with the exception of aid to states and localities and the extension of supplementary unemployment insurance payments. No doubt differences of degree remain in other areas, but these seem to be the two main fiscal sticking points. If so, compromise should be within reach.

opinion BillGalston Let's be honest...the democrats don't give a damn about the Constitution they swore to uphold. The simple fact the laws they invoke never apply to them. Explain to US 🇺🇸 how that is Constitutional in our current so called representative democracy.

opinion BillGalston Dems passed a bill THREE MONTHS AGO and Mitch McConnell said he 'had no urgency' and didn't even bring it up to debate. He suddenly panics a week ago and decides to rush through a proposal that DRASTICALLY lowers benefits for American Public.

opinion BillGalston We don't need covid legislation. It's a power grab. Laws rarely ever go away. Patriot Act. Protect freedom.
