Images: Pool/AFP/Getty Images Composite: Mark KellyThe announcement of Justice Stephen Breyer’s retirement has whistled the start of that Washington blood sport known as a Supreme Court confirmation.
“I’m looking forward to making sure there’s a black woman on the Supreme Court, to make sure we, in fact, get every representation,” he said in a South Carolina debate. This reportedly helped win him the key endorsement of Rep. Jim Clyburn, the House majority whip.

opinion JonathanTurley Black. Female (or a male pretending to be a female). Period.
opinion JonathanTurley Same for nominating someone based on their religion.
opinion JonathanTurley So Biden is going to nominate the best possible black female, not the best qualified person.
opinion JonathanTurley Wow really isnt that what he said in 2019 if nominated he would chose Black .... Look at how that worked out! Pick the best person not matter what color gender trans or a Martian!
opinion JonathanTurley He is going to be a racist
opinion JonathanTurley Reagen did the exact same thing when choosing the first woman, Sandra Day O'Connor, on the SCOTUS just before his election over Carter to placate Repub women mad at him about dropping the ERA! Get your facts straight, Turley!!! Stop the disinformation!!🤬🤬🤬🤬
opinion JonathanTurley How many Americans are white men? Cry.

opinion JonathanTurley BidenWorstPresidentEver BidenIsADisaster
opinion JonathanTurley You used the word JARRING to describe the appointment of a qualified African-American female Justice. Your code words are showing, especially since Reagan pledged to pick a woman during the 1980 campaign and then picked O’Connor.
opinion JonathanTurley This man is diplomat, therefore I don't believe that he has the courage or the capabilities to be a revolutionary and enthusiastic leader.
opinion JonathanTurley Like Ronald Reagan in 1980.
opinion JonathanTurley Tired of this rhetoric
opinion JonathanTurley For JoeBiden, it’s all about his Black vote bank, not competency. LetsGoBrandon
