.ZeeshanAleem: The president's plan for free at-home Covid tests and other testing policies could be far more ambitious.

Recode’s Rebecca Heilweil has reported that this crunch has been months in the making: “Limited federal investment, a sluggish regulatory approval process, and ongoing shortages of raw materials and workers have all hampered test manufacturing,” she. The reality is this testing crisis was preventable to the extent that we always knew that extra contagious new variants could emerge, and that investment in testing could've been ramped up long ago.

If people want to try to carry on without restrictions, making testing a bigger part of our lives seems essential. In addition to policy, the U.S. pivot toward more aggressive testing also requires a shift within our culture. As testing becomes more accessible, we need to normalize more routine testing before travel and substantial social gatherings, and encourage people to err on the side of caution by regularly getting tested if they’re experiencing Covid-related symptoms.

ZeeshanAleem FU, MSNBC. Biden’s BBB plan was ridiculously overly ambitious, according to you people in the media, but when he takes a more cautious, measured approach, he’s lamely lacking ambition. The real problem here is that the media trashes people for a living. You disgust me.

ZeeshanAleem Just like everything else! It will flop miserably!!!

ZeeshanAleem Akin to testing for pregnancy after the fact to prevent it.

White House launches hotline for free Covid tests as omicron drives demandThe administration said it will prioritize orders from communities that have been hit hardest by the pandemic. You could probably get them faster if we actually made our own, but apparently they’re coming on a slow boat from China. This is understandable, after all they’re the ones who invented the virus. The CCP is building up their army & we’re doing what we can to support the cause.
