in President Trump’s Senate impeachment trial began with an impassioned warning by Alexander Hamilton about the danger of demagogues subverting the Constitution and pursuing personal gain.
Schiff went on to say that Trump “has acted precisely as Hamilton and his contemporaries had feared” — and that impeachment is one of the core constitutional mechanisms the founders devised to protect our free system of government from such harm. Most revealing of Hamilton’s view of the perils of a demagogue in the White House is the stance he took in December 1800 when a fellow New Yorker, Aaron Burr, tied Thomas Jefferson 73-73 in the electoral college vote for the presidency. Hamilton was a Federalist, who advocated for an energetic central government. Jefferson and Burr were Democratic-Republicans, far more concerned with protecting states and citizens from the potential abuses of federal power.
opinion Read Chernow's or Brookhiser's books, not the play like you and that effete swamp dweller from Burbank did. There's a reason some founding fathers called Washington, 'his Excellency'.
opinion Alexander Hamilton would have led the charge to hang the members of the Hoax Coup.
opinion The Times is a joke. Nice Dnc propaganda bs.
opinion Can we pick someone a little more sound than...Hamilton.
opinion This should have been the Dem's warcry/soundbite: It's a witch hunt. It's a hoax. It's fake news. PROVE IT. Put up Pompeo and Bolton and the others and embarrass us in front of the entire nation. If it's such a hoax, PROVE IT TO ALL. w/ Witnesses and documents! I dare you.
opinion No; no he would not.
opinion Quite possibly. Only because he favored a strong central government versus the will of the people and the power of the states. He also believed in a very loose interpretation of the Constitution as did all Federalists back in the day.
opinion Alexander Hamilton would have led the charge to destroy the democrats.
opinion Hogwash
opinion Jesus, you're efforts bias is showing again
opinion Mi guess is he would have shot him.
opinion Hamilton would have been surprised that Adam Schiff was still in office after two straight years of lies while a public official!
opinion Sorry...but Alexander Hamilton COULD NOT have led the charge to oust anyone...since he never held an elected office. He was a Secretary of State. Never a member of EITHER the House or Senate.
opinion No. I know Alexander Hamilton. realDonaldTrump is a lot like Hamilton. Amazing story...
opinion No one know what Alexander Hamilton would have done...in 2020, knowing all that we know now of history and current affairs.
opinion
opinion '... to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government and bringing it under suspicion …' The Republican Party has been doing that for decades, it didn't start with Trump.
opinion
opinion We should drive Trump crazy and nominate Schiff for President. That debate would have ratings of Super Bowl status.
opinion it's such a kick to see leftists, after spending just about my entire adult life, trashing the founding fathers as 'old, dead, white, christian slave-holding men' (or some combo of those) annoint hamilton as their favorite FF largely because they like the play about him.
opinion Its so sad to see Republicans behave this way. For what? A man who would/is throwing them under the bus in a heartbeat. Trump will hate and betray the Republicans one day, as much as he hates the Americans who are Democrats now. He never tried to unite us, only divide.
opinion ConvictAndRemove ImpeachmentTrial
opinion RepAdamSchiff is fighting passionately for all of us, but the odds are dramatically stacked against him, they need the help of WE THE PEOPLE , get to DC outside the capitol and show the GOP that Adam Schiff doesn’t fight alone! standwithschiff FloodDC adamsnotalone
