Only Fools and Horses star 'had affair with David Bowie ' before tragic end to life
Eva Mottley looked like she would have a stellar acting career ahead of her after appearing in the BBC sitcom but it was to end all too soon and tragically
The 31-year-old actress was introduced to the comedy in an episode in which Denzil (played by Paul Barber) calls Del Boy (David Jason), Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Grandad (Buster Merryfield) to paint his flat.During 'Who's a Pretty Boy?', Eva played Corinne, who was Denzil's wife at the time and she took no prisoners, with a fiery tongue and a confrontational stance.
The character was not over enamoured with the Trotters arriving to do the painting and decorating, saying about Del: "What the hell is he doing in my home."In the episode, Del famously replaces Corinne's already dead canary with one they buy from a pet shop, mistakenly thinking the paint fumes had brought a premature end to the bird's life.
As ever, the joke was on Del, as when Corrine returned to find her pet bird alive again, she exclaimed: "When I woke up this morning he was dead!"Unfortunately, despite there being thoughts that she might feature further in the sitcom, these were the last words that Eva said on the show. headtopics.com
Eva reportedly had serious debts due to being involved with drugs and alcohol. On Valentine's Day in 1985, Eva took her own life aged just 31, with her body being found in her flat in Maida Vale, West London. She'd had an eventful life, and reportedly has an affair with legendary singer David Bowie for two years.
Eva was said to be a talented actress and she starred in Steve McQueen's 1983 drama, Widows. It was not a happy film set though and Eva walked away from the production prematurely after claims of being racially abused whilst filming.Eva had strong links to Barbados, with her grandfather, Ernest Mottley, being the first mayor of Bridgetown - the island's capital.
Her cousin Mia Mottley went even further in politics, being elected Prime Minister of Barbados in 2018, a position which she still holds today. *Samaritans (116 123) operates a 24-hour service available every day of the year.
