House Bill 151, passed 56 to 28, with Democrats voting in opposition. It now heads to the Ohio Senate, which is in summer recess and won’t return until the fall.

It now heads to the Ohio Senate, which is in summer recess and won’t return until the fall.

As originally introduced, HB 151 would change the Ohio Resident Educator Program, which assists new teachers with mentoring and professional development as they begin their careers. The bill would permit online mentoring in addition to in-person mentoring, among other program changes. Powell said that Title IX was established in 1972 to guarantee women the same opportunities to play sports as men. But allowing transgender women to play on women’s teams is a violation of Title IX.

If an athlete’s sex is disputed, she would have to present a signed physician’s statement about her internal and external reproductive anatomy and normal endogenously produced levels of testosterone. She would also have to show an analysis of her genetic makeup, under the amendment.

A win for FEMALE athletes

how in the hell does the senate take the whole summer off. dont we pay them to work a full year like everyone else?

One student in Ohio last year participated in a high school sport as a transgendered athlete. ONE. 👏👏 The other student athletes were welcoming. The Ohio Senate should get their priorities in order, and STOP governing the bodies of kids and women. We've had enough.

This is unreal. Why does the Qpublican party constantly focus on what peoples’s sexuality? The hate is why the Qpublican party is dying off.

Republican cancel culture

Transgender has nothing to do with lesbian or gay. I'm lesbian - I don't care what adults choose to do with their life/body. Issues trans people have, to whatever extent anyone agrees/disagrees with them, are a separate matter. Personally I consider it mental illness not biology.

OSHAA and NCAA can regulate these kind of issues to ensure fairness in sports. This is the GOP finding a wedge issue to further marginalize an already marginalized, small group. It’s mean and petty performative politics.

I thought they were crying over gas prices. This effects their life much more apparently.

Good. Sign them up for a mental health evaluation and leave the sports for biological men and women.

I support LGBTQ on near everything. I cannot cannot support biological males competing against biological females. Very distasteful timing of this bill.
