Negocios locales han cerrado o reducido las horas de servicio por la variante ómicron. Con personal enfermo, los negocios intentan seguir sirviendo.

Cuando el restaurante volvió a abrir, dijo que se sintió como una celebración al ver de nuevo a algunos de sus clientes habituales. Fomby reconoció que poder cerrar su negocio y quedarse en casa durante un breve periodo de tiempo es en cierto modo un privilegio, y los negocios tienen que tomar las decisiones que mejor se adapten a su situación a medida que se desarrollan los acontecimientos.

La semana pasada, Spatafore tuvo que cerrar sus restaurantes Little Frenchie y Stake Chophouse & Bar durante un par de días. Para él, la decisión de cerrar fue puramente matemática porque en ese momento simplemente no tenía suficiente personal para operar. Además, el personal que está trabajando, está agotado.

A pesar de tener al 100 por ciento de sus empleados vacunados —un requisito que impuso hace un par de meses—, aparecieron casos positivos entre familiares que trabajaban juntos o personas que se exponían a un compañero de piso. Dice que esta ola de COVID ha traído más infecciones y que no se parece a nada que haya visto antes.
