An Oklahoma minister who allegedly touched a 9-year-old boy at a bus stop was tackled by a bystander before being arrested, authorities say.

The Lakehoma Church of Christ said in a statement Thursday that Coghill was relieved of duties as a minister:"We were heartbroken to learn of the incident that occurred yesterday morning involving Mike Coghill, our discipleship minister.""Mike has a clean background check, and we have received no reports or claims against him during his tenure at Lakehoma," the church said."We will be fully cooperating with law enforcement as needed."

It wasn't clear if Coghill had a lawyer, and he wasn't listed as an Oklahoma City jail inmate Saturday. Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, which provides public defender services in Oklahoma City, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. headtopics.com

Oklahoma City police Sgt. Sgt. Dillon Quirk said in an incident report obtained by NBC affiliateKFORthat the victim told an unidentified adult the suspect jogged by and touched him at the bus stop more than once.The adult set up a"recording device" and watched as the suspect allegedly did it again, at which point the adult tackled the suspect, leaving him with a skull fracture and cracked eye socket, police said.

A police image of the suspect showed him bloodied and bruised. It doesn't appear that the bystander was arrested. Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Dennis RomeroDennis Romero writes for NBC News and is based in Los Angeles.
