Except for a handful of days, the state’s number of new cases has stayed above 19,000 since late December.

Ohio’s death toll since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 31,245. COVID-19 deaths are reported twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, though often the deaths being reported are weeks old.

A total of 7,125,436 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 64.8% of Ohioans age 5 and up. Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 16,820 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 804 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 55,481 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 3,372 fully vaccinated people hospitalized. These numbers are updated weekly, each Thursday. However, the total cases being reported recently likely are understated, as some people do not report at-home tests and others may not be testing at all.

I'm not surprised the numbers are so high in Ohio. Go in any grocery store, maybe 1 out of 10 people wearing a mask. Restaurants and bars are full. Ohio sucks.
