Ohio has reported at least 18,000 coronavirus a day in each report for the last week.

on Wednesday reported 19,750 new cases of COVID-19, coming close to the one-day record of 20,598 cases set on Dec. 31.s the total case count since early 2020 has now reached 2,112,824.

Ohio’s death toll since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 29,674, up 227 from the last report. COVID-19 deaths are reported twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, though often the deaths being reported are weeks old. A total of 7,023,208 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 63.8% of Ohioans age 5 and up.

Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 14,458 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 701 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 48,399 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 2,853 fully vaccinated people hospitalized. These numbers are updated weekly, each Thursday.However, the total cases being reported recently likely are understated.

“Due to the high volume of cases being reported during the current COVID 19 surge, not all cases reported in the past 24 hours may have been fully processed and may not appear on the current trends dashboard today,” the Ohio Department of Health said. “All systems are functioning at max capacity to process cases as quickly as possible during the surge. We anticipate that the processing delay may continue for the coming days.”* Total reported hospitalizations: 98,277, up 593.
