A Louisville police officer who shot Breonna Taylor after he was wounded by her boyfriend's gunshot said she “didn’t deserve to die.” Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly said he and his fellow officers had to defend themselves after they were fired upon.

FILE - In this Sept. 23, 2020, file photo, people gather in Jefferson Square awaiting word on charges against police officers, Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, in Louisville, Ky. Hours of material in the grand jury proceedings for Taylor’s fatal shooting by police have been made public on Friday, Oct. 2.

“You want to do the right thing,” Mattingly said. “You want to be the one who is protecting, not up here looking to do any damage to anybody’s family. That’s not anybody’s desire that I’ve worked with.” Mattingly, 44, said the protests and media reports that followed the shooting unfairly compared Taylor’s death to the slaying of George Floyd in Minnesota and Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia.

'It was a tragedy...that everybody but me is responsible for.' Yeah...we see you.

The lies, the lies, the lies!! This case should’ve been over so many months ago, but they are still trying to coverup stuff! JusticeForBreonnaTaylor

why was she thugging with the druggie? poor dears.

If the people inside the apartment were not aware that the police were coming in then the police were the aggressors the man inside the apartment was standing his ground by Kentucky standards.👹👹

Well... there are those who thing he does deserve to die. And they are funded and supported by democrats and socialists and have the 'news' as their PR.

Kentucky is a stand your ground state.

🤔 yep! hanging with violent thugs is dangerous behavior. Too bad she didn’t get that.

End no-knock warrants. The individuals‘ right to protect themselves and their home combined with no-knock entry means this will keep happening. Too many cases of police errors in executing no-knock warrants. End the practice.

Collateral damage from being romantically involved with a major drug dealer. Shit happens.

Maybe he shouldn’t have broken in and shot her then

Facts? AP reported factual information? Weird. Is this the Twilight Zone?

This doesn't show any culpability in her death. This is the equivalent of it's her boyfriend's fault that he tried to defend them from our breaking into their home.

Lack of proper training ....!!!!
