An off-duty Los Angeles police officer was shot and killed during a robbery on Monday as he was house hunting with his girlfriend, officials say.

The officer was identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as Fernando Arroyos, 27. He was a three-year veteran of the force, assigned to the Olympic Division.

The police officer had been looking at a home to buy with his girlfriend when the couple was approached by the alleged robbers, two of whom opened fire, detectives toldArroyos told his girlfriend to run and exchanged gunfire with the suspects, but was struck, they said.LAPD Officer Fernando Arroyos was shot and killed during an armed robbery attempt on the evening of Jan. 10, 2020 in Los Angeles.Deputies responded to the scene at 9:16 p.m.

Gun regulations should mirror car regulations. Training and operator license required, annual registration, and mandatory liability insurance. If we can do it for cars, we can do it for guns.

He was hunting for homes at 9:00 p.m.? Something isn't being disclosed. It could have been a botched drug deal or a controlled sale. I bet the department is trying to deny culpability or responsibility. They were up to something they shouldn't have been doing. Can't believe them.
