President Biden's nominee to lead the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tracy Stone-Manning received a stamp of disapproval from the agency’s director under former President Barack Obama over her involvement in a tree spiking plot decades ago.

, Stone-Manning was involved in a case where a threatening letter was sent to the U.S. Forest Service in 1989 alleging trees in Idaho had been spiked to prevent their removal. The letter claimed that 500 pounds of spikes measuring up to 10 inches in length had been inserted into the trees.

Stone-Manning later testified against two others who were convicted in the case, claiming she mailed the letter as a request to prevent injury. She was given immunity.U.S. Sen. John Barrasso, the ranking Republican on the Senate energy committee, said Friday Stone-Manning should be disqualified for her collaboration with"extreme environmental activists."

"Tracy Stone-Manning collaborated with eco-terrorists," Barrasso said in a statement."She worked with extreme environmental activists who spiked trees, threatening the lives and livelihoods of loggers. While she was given immunity from prosecution to testify against her companions in court, her actions were disgraceful."

The vote on her nomination has not been scheduled. It would take every Senate Republican plus at least one Democratic lawmaker to block her nomination.Get all the stories you need-to-know from the most powerful name in news delivered first thing every morning to your inbox

The justices, by a 7-2 vote, left the entire law intact Thursday in ruling that Texas, other Republican-led states and two individuals had no right to bring their lawsuit in federal court. The law’s major provisions include protections for people with pre-existing health conditions, a range of no-cost preventive services and the expansion of the Medicaid program that insures lower-income people, including those who work in jobs that don’t pay much or provide health insurance.

Opinion: On the ACA, Obama will have the last laughWith the Supreme Court turning back yet another challenge to the Affordable Care Act, it's becoming clear that the odds of dismantling Obama's signature legacy at this point are slim, writes Julian Zelizer. Joining the ranks of other programs like Social Security, the ACA will remain the law of the land for the foreseeable future, and Republicans, thus rebuked, will need to pursue new wedge issues. julianzelizer Opinion Conservatives politicians, I am at your side to replace ACA, but make it better, free and universal. Please, GOPs dear, do it. Remember free and universal. julianzelizer Opinion The A/C/A has save countless of lives and family homes and business and will continue too do so long into to future. julianzelizer Opinion Its not about 'the last laugh' it's about what is right and what is wrong. It's evil to pull out what others in the world consider a right to healthcare. Only in America do we have to suffer through this kind of thing. Even MEXICO has 'OBAMACARE' style service. WTF is going on?!
