New York City opens new traveler checkpoints to register visitors and residents returning from nearly three dozen states who are required to quarantine for 14 days — an initiative that drew swift criticism from privacy advocates.

Authorities said this week a fifth of all new coronavirus cases in New York City have been from travelers entering the city from other states. The checkpoints don't involve the police, but the city's Sheriff's Office, which enforces civil law, said it would pull over motorists at random on city bridges.

“We’re not going to be in everyone’s apartment monitoring them,” de Blasio said. “Even if we’re not going to be able to reach every single person with a checkpoint, I think it’s going to help really get the message across." “Calling a law enforcement action a public health measure does not make it one,” said Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. “We know that law enforcement should not have any role in contact tracing — it is ineffective and raises serious questions on inequitable enforcement and what information will be mandated.”

Living in China now it seems

If the coronavirus was just a contributing factor or if it’s “assumed to have caused or contributed to death,” it can be listed as the primary cause.

PhilipGagne Good. If we can’t address this nationally, as every nation other than our inept clown led country did, then people have to stop entering places who have been trying to mitigate. That’s how it keeps moving.

This is still America right?

I call BULLSHIT.

.......sounds suspiciously like a Police State.

''raise that mask up''

When Trump placed a ban on travel to and from China, these people who are putting up this restriction were in the fore front of criticising him. Today they are introducing the same measure. Their hate knows no bounds and gets in the way of their reasoning.

Benito Cuomo rides again. DiBlasio of Corleone & his fascist will. What is it with Italians? Can you not show more vision? Look up a guy named Fiore dei Libre. Even cosmo di Medici ran shit better. You guys suck ass.

Amid Covid-19, NYC Teachers Union Says City Must Do More for Safe ReopeningThe head of New York City’s teacher’s union is stepping up pressure on Mayor Bill De Blasio, saying the city’s plan for reopening schools falls short of safeguards needed to protect students and school staff amid the coronavirus pandemic. 👀 This impasse is very easy to solve for a city negotiator with spine. (Chicagoans have none representing them.) CLOSE the schools. DECERTIFY the unions. FUNDtheParents DerelictMayor Li'l Lori Teacher unions are also arguing that concerns about the health and safety of educators and staff are being left out of the debate. This is simply not true. Why is it other professions such as nurses and those on the front lines are made to go back to work but teachers are exempt?
