The mayor announced that the city is abandoning its 3% test positivity threshold, which was the impetus for the closure earlier this month. Furthermore, there will now be a strong push toward in-person learning in the city, according to de Blasio, who said the city is hoping to give most parents who have opted for in-person instruction the option of sending their children to school five days a week, which would mean a phase-out of a hybrid system in which some children have have had a mix of in-person and virtual instruction.
