The woman, identified as LAC+USC Medical Center nurse Sandra Shells, was attacked Thursday morning at the bus stop located near the corner of Cesar E Chavez Avenue and Vignes Street."Sandra Shells will forever be remembered for her compassionate care and unmatched dedication to her patients and her community throughout her 38-year career at LAC+USC.
A man in his 40s was taken into custody and booked for attempted murder after the assault, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. A concerned mother who was waiting for the bus with her daughter at the time of the incident told ABC7 that safety is what she worries about when she's at the bus stop waiting to catch a bus.
"My concerns is safety issues. A lot of homeless people are out here harassing the patrons waiting for the bus. It's unsafe. They're down here trying to rob us, rape us, anything they can do, they're yelling at us, it's a lot of mental health. And I think that law enforcement needs to come out and kind of, address these issues, to make the city more safe" said Braneka Wilson.

Reading these tweets it seems everyone is in agreement we need more mental health care for these homeless individuals, but where would this care be administered? It does not seem rational to provide it at their encampments, so at a facility Could we all agree to that?
LA district attorney will let him out of jail citing he had a tragic upbringing and because he's a transient, society should feel sorry for him, nt punish him. This is happening all over 'Blue States' and its getting worse! I live in Orange County and don't feel safe!

Mental health care is severely lacking for US citizens in poverty. This terrible INDIVIDUAL act does not speak for all homeless people. We need better mental health resources, not more neglect/abuse. These are the real consequences to us not efficiently caring about homelessness.
As long as the politicians are bribed & bullied by the 'homeless advocates ' nothing will change. The politicians need to grow some balls & take action to protect the population. We can't have a good life with the thugs on one side & vagrants on the other.
