What good are background checks, the one tool we have to *help* regulate the sale of guns, if they keep missing this kind of stuff? We not only need better gun control measures. We need the few systems that we already have in place to actually work. Hello, Congress? Hello!?

Tell me if I have this right: a teen threatens gun violence at his school, is sent for “evaluation” for less than two days, and then is okay to own a gun. Did his parents even notice the body armor

Shitty system plain and simple! If he made any kind of threat like that he should've been wearing a monitoring device for years, had ALL of his weapons taken away and possibly incarcerated or institutionalized. Now innocent people who could've been protected from him are dead...
State lawmakers and law enforcement need to examine what went wrong with evaluation. Evidently he was seen as potentially dangerous, so why was he capable of obtaining assault weapons?
But but but . . . the guy who sold him the semi said he did a background check!
And of course his threats did not impact his right to buy assault weapons and tactical gear...
