A simpler explanation is when democrats don’t get what they want they cheat by changing the rules and moving the goalpost’s. Usually lead by the 2 biggest con artist in politics NancyPelosi and SenSchumer

If you can’t get not one vote from the “other side “ with a bill it’s probably a bad bill . But You won’t hear the word by “bipartisanship”in the media at nausea until the fall

Its a critical method of protecting our Democracy from the tyranny of a 50.5% majority.

I would have added that the filibuster is NOT a vote against a bill; it prevents the bill from even coming up for a vote at all. This seems particularly undemocratic to me – 41 people can decide that we're just not even going to address some pressing issue. It needs to end.

I owe you an apology to ever doubt your sincerity and professionalism. MarkBromfield00 was just like a dream to me when I received my first payment. After my second payment it became a reality now after several payments it has become a way of life

Having read through some of these comments, it’s clear you need to find EVEN SIMPLER terms to explain the filibuster. 🤦‍♀️

It's one of the tenets that separates America's Constitutional Republic from a majority, mob Rule Democracy.

It's a Senate procedural rule that was created completely by accident and has historically primarily been used by white supremacists to stop civil rights reforms.

The filibuster isn’t going anywhere. The Democrats use it to obstruct the GOP more than 3x the amount of times the GOP uses it. Besides this, the GOP is about to retake both houses of Congress. Why in the fuck would ANYONE in their right mind want to end the filibuster now?!?!

it was useful for Joe when he needed it.

Depends on which party is in power. When Democrats are in power the Filibuster is systemic racism/ White male patriarchy/ fascism, or a tool for insurrection. When Republicans are in power, the Filibuster is an essential tool of the Democratic process.

Just don't take too long.

It's a tool that our founders never intended that allows partisan political hacks in Congress to hault the democratic process and ignore the voices of those whom they represent, so they can force the ideals of that party's oligarchy into law often to the detriment of the people.

An undemocratic tool leveraged by an undemocratic body for anti-democratic purposes. TL;DR: abolish the Senate.

The filibuster is a tactic used to stop a runaway, conscienceless majority from doing stupid things like destroy free and fair elections.

It's a tool that partisan staunch political hacks in Congress can use in order to iterrupt/hault the democratic process and ignore the voices of those whom they represent, so they can force the ideals of the oligarchy into law while squashing civil liberties and voters' rights.

They want to remove it to make it easy for them to pass stuff but of course want it reinstated when the opposition's in power Very short sighted espically based on the polling.

A lot of people think of it a,s fill it, buster

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesRemember folk, vaccines save lives and help prevent the overburdening of healthcare. Being selfish and not getting it is putting others health indirectly at risk as you take up resources that should be going to patients with illnesses not so easily avoidable. I wonder if the justices that voted against mandatory vaccinations for businesses have read this article...

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesUnfortunately most employers of essential workers just want them to come to work if they're not hacking up a lung. How in the hell is this 'responsible' thing? 'Alejandra Felix ...had a cough and a sore throat. So she did the responsible thing in COVID times and called in sick.' but then 'SPENT ALL MORNING DRIVING AROUND in Richmond AND surrounding cities, looking for rapid antigen tests.' Wow... we really have taken this way too far. It's time to regroup and think before making decisions which affect millions. When you realize you made a mistake, it's better to recognize it instead of digging a deeper hole.
