'From the freezer to the microwave' is one way to put it. The USSR and former CIS nations were fed to the worst of Western capital and corrupt Communist Party members. The people suffered and, rightfully, resent those changes. It isn't surprising they are wanting alternatives...

I think NPR has “gone crazy” with this article…

He is not entirely wrong.

The Republican party is trying to turn America in to Hungary. How many stories have you ran about this npr?

Gonna mention Operation Gladio and the US history of backing and supporting literal Nazis in these places as part of an anti-communist front right up to today, or nah? Just eliding history every day to bring you the 'news' eh ?

You can either add a comma or delete one, but at least make this dumbness flow properly

A very smart person told me “Privilege views equality as persecution.” Truer words were never spoken. That’s why so many straight white Christian men feel picked on these days- they see equality for gays, minorities & women as a threat to their (supposed) “superiority” & power.

A discomfort with Eastern European anti-Democratic authoritarianism is growing the Western democracies. Fixed it for you

Pastor Gabor Ivanyi: '…politicizing Christianity has steered European civilization to its utter demise twice.'

What the fuck is this

Well of course. Dictators usally oppose liberals, and they work on their own intetest.

Ending Communism in Hungary doesn't equate to the support of democracy - only the support of capitalism. Orban has been working with Putin to undermine democracy for over a decade. Planting lies about Soros, undermining rights. No one is lying about or misunderstanding him.

Really NPR?

It turns out 'Western liberal bias' means multi-culturalism, as in e pluribus unum. These Hungarians want a white Christian ethno-state, in which non-white non-Christians are 2nd class citizens, or worse. The same thing many Germans said a century ago.
