Ah yes, dollar tree. The most reliable of the various economic models.

Excuses. They're doing because they can. Profits profits profits

Greedy bastards hocking cheap wares for massive profits. No different than Dollarama here. Prices for things go up to $4.

Biden’s America

Thanks Brandon!

Inflation isn’t 25%.

This was a poorly written article. You needed to include the CEO’s salary of $1,184,615 plus a cash award of $2,433,210 and an option award of $7,088.690. Dollar Tree’s net worth is $32.55 billion. Doesn’t seem necessary to penalize their customers with a price increase.

Let’s go Brandon!

Not inflation. Price gouging!

Want to solve for inflation? Buy less stuff.

printa monopoly money serfas be f====d

Lots of economists posting here today! Please tell us more about why the well documented/irrefutable idea of inflation isn’t real. Please also describe your credentials / economics training.

Jen Psaki said not to worry about the inflation….

Name change? Dollar tree plus?

Biden and Harris took us from energy independence to tapping strategic oil reserves in less than a year.

This it will be false advertising if they don’t change the name of their store to $1.25 Store.

Nah, that’s why they SAY theyr doing it. They did EXTREMELY well over the pandemic. They’re doing it because they can, and in American “greed is good”

Buck and a Quarter Store

The story is corporate greed! DoBetter

Should change their name to the “~ Dollar Tree”

“Let's be clear, Dollar Tree does not NEED to raise prices. Their biz is KILLIN it- $1,230,000,000 in profits CEO pay $10MM” SRuhle

Please stop promoting these businesses. What does this have to do with anything that matters? Are they corporate sponsors of ? I want discussion on who owns news outlets - we need facts & truth

Dont lie this isnt inflation the corporation wants profits thats it.

It is sad that in the richest country in the world one have to depend on a $1 store to buy food and products. Stop and think about that. Sad, but who cares anyways with the salary we get is the only way to make it to the end of the month.

This ain’t it, NPR.

Doji__Hunting Many uneducated people have the misconception that it is the result of POTUS. The truth lies in the fact that the world is/was in a pandemic. It's called the economics of Supply and Demand. Add a big helping of Greed.

Inevitable.

Yep. It's official. Democrats are in complete control of government again with no Republican in sight to blame but themselves.

Shehada Nassar, a Palestinian ex-prisoner who spent 14 years of his life in the Israeli prisons, was hospitalized after the Israeli soldiers, who broke into his home, beat him while he was trying to defend his home, predawn today in Silwad town.

Disappointing that you aren’t digging a little deeper here

A buck and 2-bits. New store name.

Inflation BS. They’ve made over $1000 million this year (that’s over $1 billion). They didn’t need to raise prices on the poor folks shopping at their stores, but they will cuz corporate greed and the C-level suits want bigger bonuses.

Oh but according to Biden’s camp, inflation doesn’t exist right now. Report on that!

Meanwhile, no doubt the CEO and co are getting bonuses.

I call bullshit on the inflation as the reason part

More pandemic policy pain, the biggest folly in the history of mankind.

Shame on you NPR for lazily doing the bidding of greedy corporations. The CEO of dollar tree makes tens of millions of dollars and they pay their employees barely minimum wage despite being very profitable. Do not pretend that this price hike was necessitated by inflation.

Amazing if everyone was paid 25% more to match corporate greed.

You need to do better here . Your headline ignores the facts and draws a false relationship to DollarTree price increase and inflation when that was only an excuse.

'Dollar Twenty-Five Tree' just doesn't have then same pop

25% price increase? $1.10 wasn't enough?

dollar quarter tree

Time to rebrand their stores. How about '10 Bits Tree' ?

greed

A 25% hike. 😠

Just name it Tree Fiddy and get it over with

Dollarish Tree

Dollar twenty five Tree

You should fix your headline. It should mention CEO pay, increase in profits, etc. Don’t blame inflation for this.

Dollar tree made 1billion in profit. They are raising prices because they can. They want more, more, more

They’re also no longer Tree-comparable, right?

Will it be called buck and quarter store now?

They should just rebrand to $2 tree and just be over it. Good for the next 35 years then.

Really! Be better! The CEO makes $11 million a year!!!!!!!! Report on that! Or that their profits are well into the billions! Shame on you feeding the story the 'poor cooperations' are suffering.

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesShould a non-religious person play a person of a religion they don't subscribe to or practice; or should a person of one religion play a role of a character of a different faith. That's called acting. You portray someone you're not. Who could have played Rhoda Morganstern better than Valerie Harper? Nothing wrong with people wanting representation. All the idiots commenting here wouldn’t defend a white actor playing a black actor would they? So why shouldn’t Jewish people play Jewish roles?
