Jason was charged $6,500 for 6 stitches. Then his wife DeeAnn fell deliriously ill. Fearing another massive bill from the ER, she delayed treatment. Later, at another hospital, she learned she had a possibly fatal infection: Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

The number one reason people declare bankruptcy is medical expenses

Thank God for our NHS

Two problems in the health care industry. companies are making decisions about medical care instead of managing risk. 2. The medical industry is limiting competition thus there are no natural brakes for pricing controls.

Geeez. I wonder what would fix this

Sounds like Republican health care to me

Even with insurance it’s horrible, I went to the ER and they charged $13.00 for some meds they let me take home, it was over 1,000 dollars before my insurance payed a bunch then it was down to 500 something dollars, no wonder people fear getting health care

After diagnosed w/serious health condition, I could not access care & tx. I lost my job, access to hlth insurance & my sanity. Living under an overpass waiting to die. The US health care system has always been this way. It only works for those with money, the rest of us suffer

Went to the ER w/ a small cut. A saline wash, 2 minutes w/ a doc and some steri strips and that’ll be $1,000! The strips didn’t hold and I’m pretty I could’ve done all of by myself. Ridiculous.

Joanstarr11Joan He should’ve filed a disability claim.

Why is this a Surprise? It's Healthcare in the USA. The Biggest Lobbyist in this Country, the AMA. They are here to make Money,$$$ You need to learn that the Care has been long, long Gone. Republicans have No plan except for you to Die. Welcome to 2021 America.🐾🐥🛐✝️☮🇺🇸

This is a sad stare of affairs. Politicians and the media keeps us terrified about the very thing we need most: socialized medicine.

How many times do I have to see y’all post the same story...

I have the feeling they are Republicans

Only in America where 20% of children go hungry and a fascist cult controls the GOP , people carry assault rifles like a MidEast war zone and RWM FOX OAN etc anti-vax brainwashing has killed 750K

'Both the physicians & the hospital are part of companies recently taken over by private-equity investors. TeamHealth has been sued by the nation's largest health insurer, UnitedHealthcare, for overusing Level 4/5 charges on bills.' Private-equity investors for crying out loud.

The healthcare system in this country is so broken and corrupt.

You can ask billing for a hardship grant. hardship philanthropy Foundation

These people are nice folks trying to get ahead with a eco-green business model. All of that is jeopardized by an a six stitched cut and tetanus shot? I wonder how much a 'frivolous' hernia surgery would cost. God forbid if you had to stay 1-2 days overnight.

It’s only been about 35 years since Congress enacted EMTALA, requiring emergency rooms to treat patients, regardless of their ability to pay.

I didn’t realize America needed crazy healthcare reform until I went to see my doctor if I had ringworm. I literally saw her for two minutes, she told me it was just dry skin and then two weeks later I get hit with a $160 bill in the mail. Maybe more if I had taken her lotion

Medical services is a lucrative way of making money’s more like entertainment or six stars hotels business you will receiving bills even if you’re no longer alive. Consider yourself as a celebrity having luxe’s package

We don’t have a healthcare system in the US. We have a patchwork of healthcare providing networks who are too little regulated and overpriced. It’s been time for MedicareForAll for far too long. How many more Americans are we willing to watch go broke or die because of cost?

The real problem here is the lack of access to medical care. Rural hospital closures endanger the lives and health of all Americans.

Electing for coverage with a lower monthly premium, knowing that coverage has a high deductible you'll be responsible for if you need to use your insurance, is poor planning. Saving a few bucks a month won't save you if you find yourself in an emergency.

Only in the USA

One chemo treatment, cost $3000. Health insurance covered 70% out of pocket $900. Put off further chemo until I was eligible for medicare 3 months later.

Totally outrageous, this puts people's life at risk unless they are rich. At least in Scotland its only a wee walk into the hospital and give your name and address then you are treated.

The for profit model is destroying health care in America

Need Medicaid for all. It's already in place throughout Europe. insurance companies here just don't want you to know about it. It's nothing that has to be invented It already exists. If political contributions were made illegal, this would have been fixed by now. ☹️

For those who don't think universal healthcare is possible in America should look at the military spending.

LukeDonald that you?

If you dare call our healthcare system an extortionist racket you’re labeled a “Marxist” in 2021 🥴🥴🥴🥴

My wife’s Union job, Blue Cross Blue Shield 100% hospital stay insurance. $10 co pay at Dr visit Prescriptions 90% off Hawaii has the best health care. Work 20 hours a week, health dental and eye insurance

As a Canadian who does not need to worry about this bullshit, all I can say is: this is FUCKED UP

Boulder Community Hospital charged my husband over $800 for two stitches on a cut near a vein in his wrist. We will drive to Wyoming if we ever have to.

Capitalism healthcare. Qtip $10.00. It doesn't work.

Just a question—Jason was injured on the job. Shouldn’t his employer’s workers compensation insurance paid for that.

This is because JASON should have gone to urgent care, and not the emergency room. If people like JASON would learn their lesson, our healthcare might be at least a little bit cheaper.

Republicans love to see the middle class suffer.

Medicare 4 All

🇺🇲

US healthcare is an oxymoron.

America

My dad fractured his spine, no surgery. Just over a week in the hospital and a back brace: $300k…

People with God complexes should never be let to help others! And INSURANCE is not heaven! Satan is the best illusionist!

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesJennifer Aniston was amazing in this episode. She went ALL the way there with Alex's covid story. She was raw and absolutely amazing! TheMorningShow I don't understand the author's need to have the main characters be all good or all bad in order to 'like' them. What is interesting to me about the show is that neither woman is either all good or all bad, neither fully redeems herself. At least yet. Kind of like real people. Why would you have us read a long long review of someone who ends w/ “has never worked for me for more than a few scenes at a time. Why, despite the obviously abundant talent involved, it wasn't actually good.” 😂 So annoying. “Hey you hate that show... why don’t cover it!?”🙄
