Some teachers and other public service workers could soon have their student loans forgiven — or get a lot closer to it — as part of an Education Dept. plan to overhaul a troubled debt relief program.

So the federal gov. so “generously” gives 150k to a young adult student, who only qualifies since they don’t have a cent to their name. Keep in mind, the check is given w/out counseling/discussion. Is the federal gov. to blame for entrapping these vulnerable students?🤔

Department of Education: 'It will be easier this time.'

I have over 20 years of experience teaching in public schools. Not holding my breath on EVER having my loans forgiven. This has always been a huge scam.

President Biden, we implore you to shorten Public Service Loan Forgiveness from 120 qualified payments to 60 (10 to 5 years)🙏. Gov. servants are paid too much to qualify for assistance programs, yet, do not make enough to build lives. Student loans are crippling our country.

I would love to see this include those who contract services with public schools. Schools go this route often.

I feel pretty sure these are the regulations in place now. Which makes it difficult to get loans forgiven. After 16 years in the classroom I couldn’t have my loans forgiven because of a technicality that voided that option for me.

What about all who have reached their commitment to pay?

Hope this is not yet another dangling carrot. Free education for all would benefit the whole country, but this is / would be a great start. Those who commit themselves to serve the public should not have to pay for it. The whole concept is so twisted.

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesOMG, that is priceless! Well done. Well, this artists certainly isn’t starving anymore Depends on the contract, and the wording of it. For example, if it said he agreed to make some paintings, it would imply there would paint involved in the work- then this would be a violation. In any event, he just sold his reputation for honestly away for 84K.

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesIt's a shame media & our public health experts aren't constantly touting the data-based benefits of daily exercise during this pandemic. Instead, we get lots of fearmongering. We've known for a while daily exercise produces better Covid outcomes. This article is phenomenally short sighted. First, it starts with a joke about fatness. Then it categorizes obesity as a ‘disease’ - when obesity itself is a flawed calculation based on the BMI and not an inherent deviation of biology.
