The General Sherman Tree in Sequoia NP is the world's largest tree by VOLUME. It is not the tallest tree. Tallest is likely in Redwood National and State Parks, though the tallest there is not advertised to the public to protect it.

I certainly don't want these trees to disappear, they are beautiful, even kinda surreal when you walk among them.. However, this is one of those species of tree in which fire is required to reproduce.

I think general Sherman, the tree they are trying to protect, is the biggest , but not the tallest.
