The U.K. government is inching away from the metric system — eyeing a plan to allow shops and supermarkets to only use imperial measurements like gallons and pounds in their transactions.

It’s just the latest in the Government’s culture war against ‘leftie Europhiles’ and wokeness, complete waste of time

What is wrong with the UK .. let me guess they want to preserve 'identity' .. freaking conservatives

Dumb

I’m still gonna say a ‘kilo of coke’

Why?

Idiocracy

Don't do it.

That would be crazy. The metric system is great. And it make engineering calculations easier. We should all be using it.

There is a journalist who is extremely happy at being able to use the phrase 'inching away' in reference to a story about use of the metric system (although their hopes of somehow getting a double entendre out of 'imperial' were quickly dashed).

Not really. Imperial measurements haven't been taught in schools since the 1970s. People under 50 in the UK don't understand them. It's yet more culture war bs. Shops are struggling to get stock at all, so selling it in pounds or kilos is an irrelevance.

Looks like they’re trying to further build an us against them culture.

So, how many gallons and pounds are there when measuring a house? How many gallons and pounds did you drive today?

Yikes! Not a good sign of the future.

Oh bullshit

Why?

A mile is 5,280 ft. Wtf? A kilometer is 1,000 meters.

How very American.🧐

Back away

That's...dumb

“Mexit” ™️

I hate the imperial system. Please stick to common sense

To the U.K…..Don’t do it! Keep the rational and logical metric system. Just because Americans were too stupid to make the change in 1976, shouldn’t mean you go down the idiot road.

Why?!?

Dumb move.

Mistake!

Hell no!

Says the country that weighs people in stone lol. But seriously, this is a really weird change

How many pounds for a pound?

How American

Good.

There are only three countries that don’t use the metric system. THREE

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

So backwards … soon they’ll get back to monarchy those guys.

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesHispanic people being overlooked? Shocking. 🙄 Since when do movie characters have to look and talk like their audience? Only 7% of films in 2019 and only 6% in leads What happened to diversity and inclusion ? Not for this group apparently. I remember going to see “How to be a Latin Lover” basically all-Hispanic audience. We’re here so we need to be up there too

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesPharma likes that answer. The traditional antiviral actions are? Easiest to find in times of health. And anything the AMA voted against. Clever if a company disguised them, internally first. Who'd notice? Ask your (pharma trained) doctor? Or UN members? R u saying they r still unvaccinated? Seriously! No wonder COVID & mutants infections r raging around the world. VaccineMandate
