It shows that There is no one size fits all approach for learning. Different learners thrive in different settings. That’s why multiple teaching modalities are needed.

My oasis as a kid was being in a self-paced program. In the times where I worked alone, it was heaven. When other students were present, it was hell.

If npr is trying to spin school shutdowns as a good thing, they would do so ignoring all evidence to the contrary. School shutdowns are neither warranted nor necessary.

cmclymer It has been a godsend for my junior in hs (who turns 17 today which marks exactly one year out of school and in lockdown). Now I don’t know if that relief he feels is related to him being Black. I’m going to have to chat with him about that.

Some excel at distance learning, some do not. Same as in classrooms. Without the shooting drills.

This isn’t a new problem. I’m glad to see that remote learning has helped him soar. However, remote learning doesn’t work for all students or parents. Creating an environment where every child is a success must be the mission of education. education

I swear that a couple months ago the media was talking about how online learning is terrible, unfair, etc for black students. I guess now it's good?

Also true for Black employees who have gotten a break from live-and-direct workplace racism. The respite of “remote.”

A lot depends on the character and temperament of the student. Not the color of the skin.
