The Trump Administration has named Robert Marbut, a well-known consultant, to lead the federal office on homelessness. Critics worry he will roll back proven strategies — like getting permanent and affordable housing for the homeless.

Now if he would just listen to people so they can help him cure this homelessness problem. Yes he knows a lot, but he don’t listen for the answers.

They should not be given anything for free. If we give them housing then they should work it off—— like cleaning up the streets. They need to feel useful as human beings. They need to feel a worth as a human.

deuceohsixx Critics should be worried about concentration camps for the poor, because it sounds like that's what this administration wants.

Let’s follow AndrewYang ‘s plan and with the freedom dividend most homeless issues will be combated Yang2020 YangGang WomenForYang

Of course he will. That what the Trump cabinet is designed for. Trump ran on the notion that government doesn’t work, and damned if his cabinet doesn’t prove it every day.

Did any “critics” apply 4 the position/job? Put ur $ where ur mouth is!!!

Clearly, to garner more support and voters in the 2020 elections, the GOP have selected a man to lead the federal office on homelessness in order to have him put people on the street. What a genius political strategy, exceeded only by NPR's asinine supposition.

Let's not blame the Trump administration for wrongdoing quite yet NPR 🤨

Of course they do

ChiHomeless This guy sucks. So many people are afraid of shelters because, like prisons, theft and violence is rampant. Could you imagine being a kid raised in a shelter trying to preform in school? Plus NIMBY issues that limit the number and location of shelters. Seen it 1st hand in Chicago

Dsparky120 This is sad. Trumpism destroys everything. VoteBlue2020 Literally everything is on the line.

'Housing Fourth' Don't feed people on the streets, you'll just encourage them. 'Giving them a home doesn't fix HOMElessness' What, are the homeless people just stray dogs now? What a swell guy. 🖕

Just one awful thing after another

The housing-first continuum of care model (including integrated services) worked to almost halve veteran homelessness between 2009 and 2018. Using the same model, there was an almost 15% drop in overall homelessness over the same time period.

More ways to harm more people. GOP really has no other function than that.

He can't do any worse than the geniuses in LA or SF

sheryl_monk Sigh 😔

What's new with their cruel appointments?

It would appear that 'proven strategies' are not working. How about some different thinking?

Proven strategies where?

MAGA!

One of the worst moves ever made was to build homeless shelters. People need places to live.

Oops your bias is showing again

Trump only picks the worst possible people to lead agencies!

'critics'

He will lock them in Betsy DeVos branded $1000 a night dog cages? Just a guess.

We should be following Plymouth Housings lead in Seattle. They do phenomenal work!

Proven strategies 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You people don't actually believe affordable housing is the issue for these nutcases and you know it. Shame!

I'm sure his Gestapo approach will funnel money into GOP donors providing services he invents.

Jesus Christ I hate trump.

Give the man a chance. Criticise him before he even gets to work. Right now anything is better than how we USUALLY fix homelessness.

Of course Marbut will because that would be the worst choice to make. And that is what the GOP and ilk are all about.

Everyone of trump’s picks has been a complete disaster. In a couple of months, they are fired, quit or go to prison. Starting at the top this has been the single most corrupt administration in our history.

Will that be bad?

Proven strategies? I don't think so...

Well he wants low cost BEDS for people to sleep in NOW instead of waiting 10 years for them to have a 3 bedroom house.

Another destroyer, all that Trump knows.

Well, why else would dt choose him?
