After backlash from parents and university officials, the College Board is dropping its plan to give SAT-takers an 'adversity score' that captures a student's economic hardship.

I THOUGHT affirmative action was ended. Judge tests by by students answers, and jam cell phones during the test.

They did better by giving all the socioeconomic data instead of just a single number. Awesome!

Backlash from which parents is probably really important here.

Good

You mean after backlash from *wealthy* parents?

Do a away with the SAT altogether. A student’s GPA is a more realistic and quantitative measure.

When you choose to judge young people's worth as your business plan, it's hard to figure out a way to do it that doesn't bother everyone.

If K12 education came with an AA degree or vocation then standardized testing becomes obsolete.

Good. Adversity is entirely subjective. The people who want adversity scores are the professional victims and the last thing they should be doing it taking up a spot at a university.

Let colleges assign adversity if they want. The test is supposed to be a test.

Let's just get rid of this damn test. All it measures is if you're a good test taker and can your parents afford all those tutorials for it.

It was yet another tired, worn out attempt to judge people by the color of their skin and not the content of their character.

This is great news. It was a backdoor into affirmative action to get around laws preventing just that. Let people stand on their own merits, and don't discriminate.

Why even have tests What’s the point if you’re just going to fudge the numbers to get the results you want anyways

Sounds trumpy. No bueno.

Maybe the College Board should be dropped as well.

This makes me sad.
