Faced with an aging group of docents, Philadelphia's Penn Museum hit on an idea: Hire immigrants and refugees hailing from the same regions as the artifacts. About a third of visitors now specifically come to take a tour with a Global Guide.

Love this idea! Works on so many levels!

Great story!

Modern-day immigration reform will need to reflect the modern-day ways immigration can destroy Americas futures. No immigrant alien should be allowed to vote, hold any level office, own land, businesses, have more than 2 kids until 3rd or 5th gen immigrant children are US born.

Awesome idea!! These are powerful, insightful tours.

Wonderful museum. Great idea.

This is a wonderfu museum.

This was the most pure story I've heard. Thank you for the uplifting content!

Questions regarding immigration, when does immigration become over immigration & when does over immigration hinder a nation. Questions needing to be answered regardless any level ignorance, immigrant aliens or those yet affected by homelesness think in order to sleep at night.

Another way immigration pushes many gen Americans out of good work. Sad that many people are not seeing just how destructive immigration is. Many gen Americans looking for good jobs will now be assed out of many jobs. Gen Americans will be discriminated against for being American

Angela_stienne - I think you did a variation of this? Getting lots of press in the US.

Give the artifacts back to the people they were stolen from in the first place

You’re not serious? Do you not see the slightest thing wrong with giving people forced out of their country (often because of wars & regimes we’ve helped instigate/back for our interests) jobs looking at artefacts we’ve often taken wrongly from their countries?

Steal from a culture, and then act like its charity when you give people from that culture low wage jobs to explain the stolen artifacts to white people.

What I wouldn't give for a decent docent. I went to the museum the other day and experienced a recent decent docent. I may continue to go so as to up my recent decent docent quotient.

Good idea, who better to explain the exhibits than those who lived amongst them. They can explain all of the myths & forklore, beliefs, rituals, etc.

This!! Is!! An! Amazing!!! Idea!!!!!!!!

If you can't repatriate art to its country, bring the country to the art.

What a great idea...

Best idea ever!

Good idea as long as they are legal immigrants and their English is better than that found on corporate tech lines from overseas.

What a fantastic story! More museums should follow the lead of Penn Museum.

Makes sense.

You mean they can't find citizens to do this?

This is actually a fantastic idea.
