The problem, Nissan says, is that not enough people want to buy its cars, particularly in the U.S.

YOKOHAMA, Japan—Nissan Motor Co. faces the prospect of steeper cost cuts after its ambitious turnaround plan ran into the stark reality of a slowing auto industry.

“We need to reduce fixed costs. We need to thoroughly cut spending,” Chief Executive Officer Makoto Uchida said Thursday after Nissan posted a net loss of 26.09 billion yen for the October-December quarter, its first quarterly loss since 2009, during the global financial crisis.

Build them better. I won’t buy another

BigBrotherGOD1 Let me state the obvious: LOWER THE DAMN PRICE!

They don’t win any beauty contests that’s for sure.

I delayed any car purchases because of trump’s tariffs.

What they get for giving us that floating roof design trend.

I will never buy another Nissan or Infiniti. Not sure about everywhere else, but in South Florida the paint and clear coat doesn’t make it past year 4 without showing signs of corrosion. By year 7 the car loses all clear coat on hood, roof and trunk. The resale value is 💩 🚽

It’s competitive marketplace. Customers chose Nissan over domestic brands last century- that’s how Nissan became a world producer.

Well if America would step up their game and make the best product instead of talking the game maybe Americans would by American made cars that’s simple but America is so greedy until we cut off our nose to spite our face that’s stupid.

“Former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn fled Japan...” Surprisingly “not enough people” will continue to buy Nissan car since a couple of years of worldwide well known problems on the top leadership of company ...

Lets talk about Juke and QASHQAI

results of ugly designs period

Nissan/Infiniti show a penchant for killing its winning formulas. The original Pathfinder (unibody) was doing so well but they went to truck-based (came back but too late); the G35/37 was a winner but they made it boring as Q series. They don’t like success.

Wonder why 😉

Can't believe how American-centric companies are. smh

I just bought one. 🤷‍♂️

Detroit knows a lot about that situation.

Stupid customers!

dont worry Nissan people will stop buying your cars all together after carbon tax roles out.

Nissan Sues Carlos Ghosn For $90 MillionI’ve been covering the auto industry since 1989, first as CNN Detroit Bureau Chief, then as the National Auto Writer for the Associated Press, General Motors beat writer at the Detroit News and video reporter at Automotive News. I also established Fiat Chrysler’s digital communications team, pioneering the concept of “corporate journalism” where companies tell their own stories using social media, video and webcasts. We used those methods to sell the American public on why then-Chrysler Group LLC was worth bailing out. My first interview as an auto writer was with Ford’s numbers cruncher who was about to retire. He told me to “be prepared, sit down, ask smart questions, then shut up, listen and write the truth.” Good advice. Still using it. He s in safe haven.Slap whatever penalty you want. Who's paying .
